Mackey Makes a Snowman

When Manhattan got about a foot of snow, Clint and Mackey entertained themselves by playing in the snow. Notice the pic with Mackey pushing a ball of snow with her nose; she was literally building a snowman!

University of Texas, National Championship Game

The Hollywood sign!!

The Getty in Malibu

At the National Championship Game!!

You know you LOVE the orange boots!

On the way from the airport to the game...soo excited!

Clint and I have a growing passion for college football, we love our Longhorns and have had seasons tickets for a couple of years now. This year we were able to get tickets to the National Championship game; although a disappointing outcome, we had an amazing time checking out LA. Here are a few pictures from our trip where we visited Santa Monica and went to the pier, we drove Malibu in all of its glory, checked out Rodeo Drive :) and got to see the famous Hollywood Blvd.

Coffee

I thought this was the cutest thing to ever happen to a latte :) It's a puppy dog!

New Years Resolutions

Well, it is 2010, crazy, and I love to make resolutions so here are my two:

1. To floss...my 'daughter of an orthodontist' friend says that you really only need to do this 2 to 3 times a weeks so that makes this resolution easy!

2. I need to start running again; I used to be an OCD running freak but after knee surgery, I stopped so it is my resolution to get back to my 6 miles a day routine, maybe not everyday but at least 4 days a week, I need to get out there and jog. While I'm living in New York, I will be using a treadmill :)

New Years Eve in New York City!!

Those of you who know me, know that this was a dream! Those of you who know New York, know that there is no way we would go any where near Times Square. It looks great on TV, doesn't it? All of those people performaing, the 1 MILLION people cheering and the big, beautiful Swarovski ball...it only looks great on TV because you are tucked into your cozy, warm home, not stuffed into a quadrant, that the NYPD has set up, that you can't leave, in 15 degree weather, trying to find a bathroom or...yeah, eww. So no, we didn't go to the ball drop but we did go to a fabulous, private party in a ballroom at the famous Woolworth Building. It is such a beautiful, ornate building so as an architecture enthusiast, I was just excited to get inside :)

We were there with a great group of friends, all dressed up and we had a blast!! They played the Jay-Z song "Empire State of Mind" at midnight, which was perfect, and we all toasted to the New Year. One reason that I loved it, I got to be part of the first group in America to celebrate the New Year! I know that it sounds silly, but I have always wanted to be on the East Coast to bring in the New Year, and I finally got to do it!

Clint and I look forward to this being our first full year of marriage and we are excited about our life together; exploring this city, and all of its wonders, has been amazing for us :)

Name Change

This post could most obviously be about my name change, from the social security office to the DMV, it was a process to go from Devlin to Miller BUT this is about our wonderful bulldog. Formerly known as 'Perdy', our girl is now to be known as 'Mackey'. There are a few reasons behind this, first, Perdenales is great, Perdy is reacted to as, "Aww, 'cause she is so puuurdy!!"

No, we did not name her 'Puuurdy' so that we could sound as Texan as possible, we named her Perdenales but that's too long to say. Also, 'Perdy' never grew on me; Clint liked it but I just couldn't stand it. Bulldogs have creative, fun bulldog names and 'Perdy' wasn't doing it for me. So we discussed and decided that she could go by a shortened version of her middle name, McCombs so Mackey it is! Not only does it refer to her middle name but 'Mackey' stems from my family's name, McDaniel; from Bob Mackey, the glitzy designer (we do have a girl dog); and from Mack Trucks, they have a bulldog symbol!

So the short of the story, I am now a Miller and Perdy is now Mackey!! YAY!! I love it :)
